The Senatus of Uganda mourns the passing of our beloved Deo Nkuzingoma, who served as our President from 2010 to 2016. Deo passed away peacefully this morning, 21st July 2024.
Deo was a remarkable man who embodied humility, faith, and dedication to service. Despite his accomplishments – a senior lawyer, owner of a law firm, and former President of the Uganda Law Society – he treated everyone with kindness and respect.
His life was deeply rooted in prayer and devotion. Deo actively served the Church in numerous capacities, including Parish Council Chairperson of Christ the King Parish, President of Senatus Uganda, and within the Catholic Association of Professionals of Uganda (CAPU) and the Uganda Catholic Lawyers Association.
Deo nurtured a special passion for guiding seminarians and young people. He actively supported their formation and encouraged them to embrace their roles as apostles. The Singular Vessel of Devotion Praesidium and the different Praesidia that it bore at Christ the King Parish stand as a testament to his dedication.
Deo was also a devoted family man. After being widowed at a young age, he raised his two sons single-handedly with unwavering love and care.
In his final years, Deo faced health challenges with unwavering courage and faith. He bore his cross with heroism, inspiring all who knew him.
Deo Nkuzingoma will be deeply missed by the Senatus of Uganda and all who knew him. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Requiem Mass will be at Christ the King Parish at 9am on 22nd July 2024; after that, the body will depart to Kisoro. Burial will be on Wednesday, 24th July 2024 starting with Mass at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, Mutolere Catholic Parish.
