Legionaries were welcomed to the 701st meeting.
Our Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Expedito Walakira was still sick and admitted in Nsambya Hospital. Legionaries were requested to continue praying for him and for those who could, to pay him a visit or call the caretaker to console him.
Legionaries were asked to support the 24-hour initiative introduced by the Concilium. Invite fellow Catholics and Parishioners. The rosary is not only for Legionaries.
The Senatus officers held their Spiritual retreat from 23rd to 25th April 2021 at Walukuba Parish, Jinja Diocese. They reflected on the theme of the year and as well prayed together for the Legion of Mary.
The Centenary celebrations are starting on 7th September 2021 to 7th September 2022. It is proposed that we have inauguration in Kampala led by Rt. Rev. Paul Ssemogerere, chairman of the Lay Apostolate Commission of the Uganda Episcopal Conference. We shall have Mass in Nsambya and then launch the Centenary Magazine and the Centenary theme. We are receiving articles for the Centenary Magazine.
On our plan for extending Legion of Mary in Soroti Diocese, Br. Francis Kibaate spent 3 weeks in Soroti visiting some of the Praesidia. Different councils had been allocated different deaneries in Soroti. Legionaries that are able to offer time for the extension of Legion of Mary in Soroti were requested to show interest. The Spiritual Director of Soroti Diocese was arranging a meeting with leadership of Parishes and the different extension workers.
As we wait for the response from the Bishop of Hoima, Legionaries in Hoima Diocese were reminded that the Spiritual Directors Conference will take place from 17th to 20th August 2021.
Senatus acquired a public address system that will be used at the Senatus meeting and any other Senatus events.
Senatus organises the handbook study sessions every third Saturday of the month aimed at studying the handbook and training ourselves as Legionaries.
Congress for directly attached Praesidium is set to take place on Saturday, 29th May 2021 at Legion of Mary house in Nsambya starting at 10am.
In the meeting, we received the report from Regia of Western Uganda, Bukuumi Comitium, Lira Comitium and Kampala Central Comitium.
