SUMMARY:65th Death Anniversary of Servant of God Alphonsus Lambe
DESCRIPTION:Servant of God Alphonsus Lambe\, also known as Alfie is one of the Legionaries whose cause for Canonisation has been introduced. \nAlfie was born on 24th June 1932 and died on 21st January 1959  at just 26 years. He has been referred to as the “model of the youth” in South America where he did much of Legion of Mary work. \nTo his personal secrets\, little is known\, why? Hilde Firtel writes in the biography about Alphonsus Lambe that “Only in rare instances did he lift the veil from his soul”. \nTo those few secrets we know\, some were told them to his best friend Seamus in his correspondence to him. \n“I am more than ever convinced that living the Legion is living the life of Our Blessed Lady\, and the more one gives oneself to the Legion the more one finds oneself in Mary.” \n“I am really very weak\, but I know that Our Lady uses the weak to show her power. For some time past I have made it a practice of reciting the Legion promise daily towards the end of Mass. DESCRIPTION:Senatus of Uganda will hold the 11th National Spiritual Directors with the goal of enhancing the spiritual formation\, guidance and development of the members of the Legion of Mary in Uganda and South Sudan. \nOutcomes of the Conference\n\nEnhanced growth of the Catholic church: With a strong\, motivated and hard-working Spiritual Directors\, their influence will directly strengthen and contribute to the spiritual growth and development of individual Catholics\, which\, in turn\, can positively impact the Church as a whole and lead to increased growth of the Catholic church.\nEnhanced Competence: Spiritual Directors will acquire a deeper understanding of the principles and practices of spiritual direction\, enabling them to provide more effective guidance to members of the Legion of Mary. They will develop a deeper understanding of the spiritual needs and challenges faced by Legionaries and will better accompany them on their spiritual journey.\nSpiritual Growth: The conference will provide an opportunity for the spiritual directors themselves to deepen their own spiritual lives\, fostering personal growth and renewal as they engage in prayer\, reflection and a stronger sense of personal vocation as spiritual directors.\nCommunity Building: The conference will foster a sense of community among spiritual directors\, creating a support network where they can share insights\, challenges\, and successes in their spiritual direction ministry.\nCollaboration and Networking: The conference will facilitate connections and collaboration among Spiritual Directors\, leading to ongoing communication\, mutual support\, and the sharing of resources and ideas. Participants will feel connected to a larger community of Spiritual Directors associated with the Legion of Mary. They develop relationships\, build networks\, and establish a support system that extends beyond the conference\, fostering ongoing collaboration and solidarity.\nRenewed Motivation: Spiritual Directors will leave the conference feeling renewed and motivated in their vocation\, equipped with new knowledge\, skills\, and inspiration to continue their important work.
