April Senatus meeting held on 18th April 2021

The President welcomed all Legionaries that had attended the 700th Senatus meeting.

The President extended condolences to all Legionaries on the loss of His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, Archbishop of Kampala. She thanked all the Legionaries that took part in the Triduum that was on Radio Maria Uganda and whoever prayed for the eternal repose of the soul of His Grace. We were requested to continue praying for his soul. For the Praesidia praying for the priest, they should continue even when he passes on because he still needs our prayers.

Our Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Expedito Walakira is still sick and resides at St. Balikuddembe, Mengo-Kisenyi Parish but receives medication from Nsambya Hospital.

Legionaries were thanked for having participated in the Acies of 2021.

More Councils reported to have started on the 24-hour rosary initiative started by Concilium. More Curia were requested to take it up. In this initiative, each Curia gets 24 members that commit to reciting the Rosary at each hour for a particular day. For Comitia and Regia, they should do it for directly attached Praesidia. The members to participate in the 24 hour rosary are not only Legionaries but even family members, Parishioners and friends can join in.

Councils were reminded to resume the Patrician meetings and those that were in the process of starting one. they were requested to resume. For reference, read Ch. 38 of the Legionary handbook.

Senatus of Uganda has embarked on an extension drive of the Legion of Mary to Soroti Diocese, Arua Diocese and Gulu Archdiocese. In this drive, all Legionaries are requested to be part of it through physically being part, spiritually through prayer and financially through contributing to the drive. Incase you feel you wish to take part, leave a comment here with a contact. Someone will get in touch with you. Thank you

In the meeting, the role of the Curia was further emphasized of ensuring that praesidia do not drift into the giving of material relief (LHB 28, Section 2). Legionaries were encouraged to read Chapter 39 Section 10 on why material relief is prohibited.

In the meeting, Legionaries were requested to take on a devotion to our founder, Servant of God Frank Duff. This can be through using the prayer from his beatification to seek for any favors or miracles, reading and spreading the messages about Frank Duff.

The Holy image of our Lady of Kibeho, Mother of the Word is in Ggaba Parish.

In the meeting, we received a report from Kabuwoko Comitium and Hoima Comitium.
